The island is just off from Harpswell/Great Island. It is near Pole island.

I've only camped in summer, in campgrounds, so this may not really count, but I'll say two tied. (One would've been worse but we gave up and went to a hotel.)
In the middle of the Arizona desert in September when out of nowhere a massive desert thunderstore shows up (too bad because it was so beautiful there. I really want to go back) and turns the tent inside out. Packing that back into the car was fun. Gave up and hit the hotel. (Lightning and we're as tall as anything else out there? No thanks.)
Sleeping on and asphalt under a freeway in San Simeon, California. Don't get me wrong the beach, the country around it, the Hearst Mansion, it's all beautiful, but for some reason they decided to put the one campground directly under Big Sur, which doesn't necessarily get quiet at night.

I really really want to but my mom's side of the family is having their first week long family reunion that week & we're traveling to the east coast of Quebec (from like the 12-20). Seeing as my grandparents aren't really doing that well, I kind of figure I should go, seeing as it might be the last time I see them.... I'm thinking about convincing my parents for me to arrive late, but we'll see....

The only times I've been camping were at the Reading Festival. The first time was so great, I thought "yeah, next year is gonna rock!"
Next year, the skies opened up in the middle of August and completely waterlogged the camping fields. We had to try and pitch out tent in gloopy mud and we kept sinking into it. I woke up each morning and the group beneath me had sort of moulded around me. It kind of put me off.

My worst camping trip never even made it to the camping part. My brother, my dog and I headed into the backcountry of Shenandoah National Park for a weekend trip. we get about 5 miles in through some pretty rugged terrain and my dog gets bitten on the leg by a 4 ft copperhead. He looked at his leg and just started screaming. He's pretty little, about 25 pounds, so I was sure he was going to die. The leg started swelling up in about 30 seconds. This dog is like my world so needless to say I was freaking out . To make a long story short we had to hike out uphill in 97 degree weather carrying my dog as his leg swells up so big and fat that the skin between his toes slits and starts bleeding. hitch a ride to my car and drive 40 miles to the ER vet. Thankfully he pulled through, but what a weekend!

San Sebastion, FL
Camping at San Sebastion state park in the middle of summer. After a hard days surfing, getting tossed around, just getting my ass kicked in, we went to camp to pass out. Woke up to what felt like a million little mosquito bites but was actually Chiggers (noceums). I think people call them that b/c you can't see them on you skin (no -see-ums). Went to sleep in my car(half a mile away) but only succeeded in transplanting all the little bugs into my car. I had chiggers in my car for about a month. Vaccuming was pointless.
