I'm having some 2nd thoughts about my big pack purchase.I've been out doing some day hiking and trail running with it and I think it might be a bit of overkill for my trip to Europe this summer.As far as packing goes I'm a lightweight,only take what I need.I don't plan on bringing back a ton of stuff,except a hot birtish lady maybe? I'm also going to be travelling for 6 weeks and can fit just about everything I need in about 40L of the pack.If anyone has any input as to if they think it's too much please pass it on.It's my first time going to Europe so I don't want it to be a pain in the arse haulin' around some crazy pack.It's a Northface "Stamina" 70L with a detachable daypack,it's got a primo suspension system,the X frame, if you know about that kind of stuff and it feels pretty comfortable but I just think it might be too much.

If you think it's too big, it's too big-- can you take it back and exchange it? If you think you can get everything you need in 40L, get a 50L just in case.

AS far as an exchange goes I can't do it.The store I bought it from won't exchange anything over 2 weeks even with the proof of sale and they've put the pack that I paid 362.00CDN. on sale to clear at 259.99+tax only a week after I bought mine.I've tried to exchange it and even get the difference back,but they are a bunch of jerks to deal with when it comes to any of that kind of stuff.The store is Gear up for outdoors in Thunder BAy ontario Canada and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for backpacking/outdoor gear,sorry to sound so damn bitter about it.

if you can fit your stuff in a smaller one i would get a smaller one, it will be loads better not having to lug it around for the hell of it.

Here's my take.

Put the 70L pack on ebay and use the proceeds to get a 50L pack. Even if you take a loss on it you will be happier in the long run. Plan B could be take off the daypack and leave it at home if you don't need it. I will make it a little less bulky and lighter too. Other than that, enjoy your trip!

man a 70L is fine thats pretty standard nothing wrong with it, your living outta it for 6 weeks not like a day hike but if you really wanna get rid of it yeah try e bay, but just to make you feel better, I use a 90L pack

I agree wth newbiepacker....my pack is 65 liters, could've used one a lil bigger when i was away for a month.

Thanks for all the input guys.You all rock.I think I should try and maybe see what else I can take with me and use this thing to the fullest,but not fill it up or anything.I don't think I'm willing to let this bad boy go on ebay,I'm just not a fan of selling stuff online.But again thanks for all the advice and just keep giving er'

fill it up 3/4 of the way and leave some room for the stuff you'll pick up on your adventures i say.

Yes you definitely need extra room for all the little things you'll pick up along the way! I know I'm gonna save room for that shopping in Paris I'm dying to do. If I have cash left by the time I get there. lol.
