I just scored a killer deal on a Dana Designs Terraplane ($265) from a local store here in the bay area! I guess Marmot bought Dana last year? and Marmot wants a bigger style bag so they are eliminating the Terraplane from the dana line? and using the design for their own bags! At least thats what the sales person said and I talked to Marmot (same thing). I know that 265 is still alot but I wanted a reputible bag that would outlast and 100 bucks cheaper is still a good deal to me.

kcl,
naa, trust not my word but the word of each of my friends i've tried to pawn the pack off on, it just is an uncomfortable pack. I think it is the 2001 Bombpack. I reckon there is a ~very specific body type this would be cozy on, case in point features that look snazy are not necisarily cozy. Cozy is #1 priority.

I'm not kicking all Dana's to the curb (I'm something of a fan if i trusted the name), but I am kicking this one.

^Well I checked into it and apparently the two companies have sort of merged - but will continue to remain seperate as far as product line and production.

Wink

If you can find one of these, grab it. I don't know if they make them anymore but it is a gem.

Eagle Creek's Bhatah Sab ($150) is essentially a heavy-duty daypack that incorporates a smaller around-town bag. With its framesheet suspension, the 2,300-cubic-inch pack can handle over 30 pounds, not to mention a 300-cubic-inch lumbar pack (it also has shoulder straps) that zips off the mother ship.

I love it and will never part with it even after 3 years of backpacking around the world twice. Small enough to carry on planes even.

My precious....
