Finally decided to go out and buy a travel pack, but only really looked at a few so far, particularly the Osprey packs...anyone used these packs and got any insight??

Osprey are pretty good. Basically choosing a pack comes down to preference. Pay attention to where the zippers are, if you'll be able to lock it, if it's side-loading and top-loading or just top-loading, how it feels on your back when it's loaded to 50lbs...
Crap like that. Basically any pack inside a store like REI is going to be worth the money you spend on it. It just comes down to preference.

I've got an osprey transporter, and I would not trade it in. it’s not a pack I would take off-road, but is very well made. I like what they call the strait jacket, it packs everything in tight and keeps the load balanced. As a travel pack it works really well, the suspension system is not something I would want to hike with but, it kept all my stuff mobile. I also have one of their day packs and it's also very well made. I totally recommend thier packs if it suits your needs. Hope this helps, good luck.

I picked up the Osprey Waypoint. Seems pretty decent so far but I don't leave for my trip until the 31st, so I won't know how great it is until then. But the girl I talked to at the store was all about it.

Osprey makes decent packs. Main thing is to get the pack thats right for you... Read this!!!

I think this use to be true, but even REI is starting to sell out. I have noticed as they have made more and more of their own REI brand, they are getting in crappier packs.

I like Osprey's travel packs a lot.. they look great, the construction is great, and everything hides away nicely for a streamlined, tangle-free package. Especially helpful on those luggage carousels. I just find their straps to be uncomfortable. Probably the only negative I've found!

I've been looking for a new backpack for a month now and am really liking the Osprey Aura 50. The only think I don't like is that it's only top loading. 
I thought the straps were the best feature - HOWEVER - I haven't tried one on with any sort of weight in it - just that bouncy lightweight airpillow they stuff it with on the showroom floor to make you think - wow, what a freakin' light pack!
And I really like that open meshy backpanel that lets your back breath - my fav as I really hate a sweaty back while dragging around 30-40 lbs.
I'm still trying to decide, but I really like them compared to a lot of other packs I've tried.

I have an Osprey Cresent 70, which is actually a guy's pack but it is identical to the Luna 70. I love it! Best pack I have ever used. I hate how a lot of packs rain straps, real pain for traveling and getting it all buckled down properly. Osprey has a clean design and is streamlined. It is pretty tall and narrow, something I love.
Best feature is the hole in the top for your head, makes it easier to move around. The hipbelt is amazing for really heavy loads, helps avoid bruising on pressure points.
I have used a lot of packs for trekking and I swear by this brand now! Definately do not get a top loading pack, it becomes a real hassle!
