Well this is on behalf of a friend, but I'll just write in first person:

So I'm going to Ireland for a few weeks as part of a study abroad and I need to bring my laptop, but afterwards I'll be backpacking around the BeNeLux countries for about 2 weeks. I don't really feel safe shipping the laptop home (and since I brought it I might as well keep it), and it's not very heavy/big so there's no issue carrying it in the pack.

But... The pack (Dana Designs Swift Traveler) doesn't have a good/safe way to store it. I've seen protective sleeves/cases for laptops before but do any of you have suggestions for a good way to protect it? (It's an ibook if that matters.)

If anyone's found a good solution for carrying their laptop it would help my friend out.
Thanks guys

Timbuk2 makes nice padded laptop sleeves that don't take up a ton of room but definitely keep things protected and are cut to fit Mac laptops. Check them out here. They hold up well too--I've had my Timbuktu messenger bag for years with no problems or even noticable wear and tear.

Brenthaven makes them as well, and though they are made specifically for Macs or Toshibas, they will fit a lot of other laptops.

If by some way you can find their older design backpacks, they look like any other daypack out there and are damned near indestructable.
