I have an unlocked phone for the sim. My parents are insisting that I have a phone with me so that they can keep their tabs on me. If anyone has a sim lying around from when they traveled abroad, I will be willing to buy it and pay for shipping. I'll even ship it back to you when I return if you want. Ideally, I would like a flat rate sim card because I will be traveling to 5-6 countries. Let me know,
if you hang around yahoo.co.uk or msn.co.uk you'll fing that o2 and orange often have offers giving away free sim cards (usually 3 or 4 at a time), it'll save you a lot of hassle!
