I'm looking into getting prescription sunglasses, and of course I'm planning to take really good care of them. The reason I can't do the cheap ones is that it would mess up (even more) my vision... as they aren't made at an optic center they are not very protective (there are more than one harmful ray of sun that cheap sunglasses don't block out). And as I'm not planning to take my contact lenses to Eurpe, but my eyes are super sesitive, I need to get prescription sunglasses...

I just got a new pair of (regular?) eyeglasses... apparently I'm getting blinder!! I've got right eye: -5; left eye: -4.75.... (miopía.... I don't know the translation in English...)

I buy cheapies, not because I think I'd lose a more expensive pair, but because I'm a poor poor student!!

I buy mine from the regular "high street" shops for about £8-15, and they do me just fine.

My style changes a lot, so I buy a cheap-ish pair (with UV protection) once or twice a year. I like the Target ones ($20+), which follow current trends but aren't complete hack-jobs in terms of quality. Plus, no guilt if they get lost!

I know I've already commented on this but just recently I realised that my current pair of sunglasses and I are just meant to be together. I bought them about four years ago for $5 and lost them soon after.. then after a few months i found them again in my room. since then I have lost them numerous times and they have turned up in three different people's cars, accidently gone home with two exchange students (and returned from america & germany), I took them to europe and to canada last year, and just a few weeks ago I thought, yup. I've finally lost them - I thought I'd left them in a shop fitting room. then last week I went to a party and my friend said "hey ali I found your sunnies in my handbag after we went shopping" what the hell!! they are magic sunglasses I tell you...

i've have a pair of dragon glasses i paid around 100 bucks for 5 years ago. normally i would lose glasses, scratch then, etc. but when i spend a decent amount of money on something i tend to take better care of it so i dont lose it.
i did break them once but i sent them back in and they were replaced even after the warranty was up. all in all i like my glasses.

i rationalize purchasing expensive things like sunglasses by figuring out how much they cost me per wear. like if i wear the glasses 100 times and they cost 100 dollars i figure out that it would be 1 dollar a wear. then i think would i rent the glasses for a dollar a day? if yes, i buy, if no i dont buy. haha, its a stupid way to figure something out but im really cheap so i agonize over decisions involving money. but over the past five years i've probably got my per wear cost on my classes down a quarter or something, so they have been well worth their price.
