I'm looking for a pair of trainers for backpacking, that are comfortable enough to do a lot of walking, but also smart enough to go clubbing in (not gonna lug around a seperate pair of shoes). Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?

Try and get some that are all or mostly black. Usually you wont get turned away as long as they dont stand out as trainers.

Personally id recommend a skateboard trainer. They are built to be comfertable, light weight yet still strong enough to take a beating of your board. A pretty much all black trainer goes with anything and gets you into clubs, a less is more kinda thing. Check out www.skateamerica.com for examples

hello yeah search for DC's, etnies, globe, vans etc etc they are amazingly comfy, but when i got travelling i will be wearing my beloved chuck taylors, although u prob wouldn be able to wear them as 'smart' clubbing styley shoes, they are comfy as fuck, thin so if hey get wet wont take years to dry. And look the bees knees..in my opinion ne whoo

You could probably get away with a tennis shoe like this, the Adidas Rod Laver, which looks a lot like skate shoe but the all black leather keeps it looking sort of proper.

my feet suffered so much from the lack of arch support in the chuck t's. i didn't take them on my trip, but excessive walking in them destroyed my feet so i had to get some proper shoes that would hold up for a month of walking and being on my feet all day every day.

ive ben wearing them prett much everyday for a couple of years, i live in them. the best thing is if they get destroed orruined its cheap enough to buy a new pair over there

i guess it depends on the person and their comfort, each o our own but i deffo wont be leaving eithout them, maybe its coz im used to them by now.
