Yes bring one! I used mine just about everynight. I bought mine at a local outdoor/hiking store, however you can also make one as well. Just get an old sheet and fold it in half and sew up one side and the bottom of it. I had one with a built in pillow case so it can in handy cuz some of those pillows in hostels are nasty!

Where to Next? Iceland!

Look for a Hostel International close to you, or a student travel place (USIT, STA Travel, etc...) they usually carry things like that.

I never used one, but they would have come in handy. Do as Dio said. Get a queen size bed sheet and fold it in half, then sew the bottom on up all the way up the side until you´re content. That´s essentially what you´ll get if you bought one.

It always feels good to sleep in your own sheets

Hi there! I agree with Dio and everyone else, but here is another thought... I would say 75% of the hostels I stayed in offer clean sheets at no price. The other 25% will provide them at a minimal charge, 1.5-2 euros or so. So here are two things I would consider: 1) everything adds weight, so even though the sheet may appear light alone, it's just one more thing to carry, 2) does your budget allow the extra $ to pay to use their sheets when necessary? Hope this helps.

good for you katdawg, for taking dio's advice! These boards have served their purpose! You did it exactly as I have done at the end of my trip- chuck em so you don't have to lug em! Good work B) !

Carisia, thank you soooo much for all of your freshly updated info on Europe!

I agree with the others. Take a sleepsheet! If you happen to stay in a questionable hostel, having your own sheet will make you more comfortable. I used a queen Jersey knit (t-shirt style) and it worked great!

I was looking at these today the cotton ones are cheaper but MUCH bigger, then you can get silk which are more expensive but MUCH much lighter and smaller.

Does anybody know the pros/cons for cotton vs. silk?

What is silk like to sleep in? I've never slept on silk.

Silk sheets are nice, but you slide around in them a bit and can get extremely hot when the weather is warm. I would stick with your favorite cotton blend.

Actually I have sateen sheets on my bed at home... they're great during winter or summer. Its almost a blend of silk and cotten. They're my fav... so I'd be partial to making a sleep sack from that. Plus if you go to one of those discount stores, west coast have TJMaxx and Ross. Any place like that... you can get really good prices.

Well, there you have it. People who have used them and people who have never used them.
It's your call! If you went geurilla style, how can it hurt you to fold up an old queen size sheet, sew it up on the bottom and on up the side, and you're all good?
