I am starting a thread for people who have tips on maintaing your back pack. I have a few.
Make sure you air out your bp when its done because if your like me it will smell of dirty clothes so air it out.

Keep your straps strapped up and dont let them drag on the ground.

Careful when zipping pockets you don't want the zipper to break.

Anyothers?

Here's a tip I learned.

Don't lug your 10 kilo (or more) backpack around by the daisychains. Apparently, they're just meant to hook crap onto your backpack....not to actually carry the 20 pounds around. I know they look appealing to stick your fingers into and just heave around...but they don't like that and then they RIP!

Always be kind to the plastic buckles since they tend to break in the most INOPPORTUNE TIMES!!! (like when you take a spill skiing... )

And for that matter, it isn't a bad idea to have a backup buckle for the major ones on your pack with you... www.campmor.com and others sell replacements.

Always let your pack air out if it gets wet. Nothing is worth than mildew + damage.

Always pack wet stuff in a tightly sealed plastic bag of some sort.

Fishing line can be a longer-term fix for tears. Duct tape is the "band aid that will get you home" fix.

Don't overpack it. Stretching can damage the fabric and zippers over the long term.

That's all I got right now

At four o clock in the morning, while switching trains, don't drag it around on the asphalt by it's handle. It doesn't like that, no matter how tired and crabby you are.

I think Jamie's backpack needs a kiss.
