so what do you think of wheeled backpacks
|
Generally speaking: Don't like 'em. But that's because I have yet to find a truly good backpack that has wheels on it. Most of the wheeled ones SUCK in one way or another. I'm not saying that all wheeled baggage is bad, but wheeled backpacks don't seem to have very many redeeming qualities, in my opinion. *shrug*

Yeah, usually the wheels and the attendant handle end up taking up valuable packing space. Although I've heard nothing but raves about the new Victorinox (Swiss Army) wheeled backpacks, they too suffer from the same space loss...

This is my first post so here goes...
I went to buy my first pack today and have done a fair bit of reseach beforehand. Wheeled packs sounded great in theory but yeah,. you do loose space. Also they start off much heavier than normal packs. This to me was a major turn off cause I'm not very big and will struggle carrying my clothes etc anyway. Plus, you cann't wheel everywhere - well you could try but it'd be a bit difficult off the track where the street are cobblestone etc. That's just IMHO, but I'd love to be proven wrong |
yep, i'd say too heavy and you lose too much precious packing space. But then again, i have no idea what i'm talking about
Just out of curiosity, where would you use the wheels?? |

I have a suitecase with wheels & its great for vacation kinda stuff (ie when I was in Mexico last month) but I'd never buy a backpack with wheels  |

I can understand suitcases with wheels because they can be bastards to carry, but backpacks are bloody brilliant for carrying so i don't really see the need for wheels. I can't imagine taking my pack off just so i could wheel it down some road and then puting it back on when i run out of nice flat surface. Maybe they would be handy for airports, but there's no way i'd sacrifice packing space for the few times that i'm at an airport. ...and that's what i reckon :) |
Backpacks dont (and shouldn't) have wheels which is why you wear it on your back. Wheels belong on nice luggage in an airports, hotels and thats about it.
People who use roller bags (bagrollers) at my school are very anoyying. They take up the room of two people whever they go, they make nosie wherever they go, they slow down foot traffic on the stairs. They are all evil I say! If you cant lift a back pack of school books you shouldnt be able to go, with some exceptions for the disabled. |
Yea, wheels on backpacks are a big no-no :nono: Most airports have carts you can use, then, well, you are using a backpack...
