Hi people. I'm Jorge, from Mexico, new in the comunity :-). I'm moving to Europe, and I need some advice on big duffels or lugage (over 100lt maybe). Yes yes! I bet you are thinking I'm crazy, lol but I swear I'm not light travel antithesis, I usually travel with a 35lt for a month or montha and a half ;-).

Now I must deal with such a huge load because I'm arriving on autum/winter, planning to stay there for a while (university or longer) (north central city in Germany), must take all my clothe, specially winter clothe, have you ever tried to compact Down jackets? it's almost impossible, even with the bag that vacuums air out, lol I got two jackets like that, even with that bag these takes lots of room in my 35lt backpack .

Anyways, I was thinking about either the Travelpro 36" wheeled-Duffel or the Jansport 36" Duffel or 36# footlocker.

I rrreeeeallllyyyy need some advice.... here are some links:

Shameless plug here.... :D
These are hockey bags on wheels-but they might do the trick for you. They're really sturdy-meant to take a lot of stress, lots of pockets etc, and are huge.

A friend of mine's parents make them

Welcome to the the boards Jorge!

I think that all three bags look good, but if it´s just going to be used for a one-time move, go for the cheapest option. Maybe the local sporting goods store has a big bag for cheap. You may only use a bag that big, only a couple of times(like when you´re moving or what not), so why spend so much on a bag that will be used so little? My opinion anyway.

A hockey bag, like Erins suggestion, is a good idea because they´re big and sturdy. Nice bags Erin, but there´s no price list

Good luck, Jorge!

Ooops-I didn't even realize that. They're Canadian made, so at least you're saving with the exchange.

Hello,

Thank you for your replies, well, I've already looked in local sport shops and there are big bags, like these ones but the price is over $200... and no wheels, there are other cheap ones, but the ones you wouldn't use to carry all your beloved clothe :P.

I really think I'm getting Jansports 36" Duffel bag, it's $59,93 but at least it's guaranteed (I live in Mexico, don't get to hear that word frequently), and
9,400cu in, 154lt, I can't even imagine how much is that :-p I know it's not like a monstrosity, but in that case I still got my other backpack, or a small carry on wheeled luggage.

I've fitted about 15 t-shirts, 3 pants, 1 jeans, 2 formal shirts, and underwear in my backpack. The problem is I still need place for 5 sweaters (it's fall and winter in europe, and I already got them, why spend 20 bucks in one if I can buy a $60 bag and take them all), 2 Down jackets, thermic clothe. and If I can make all the clothe and these stuff fit in the duffel bag, and take my backpack as a carry on would be awesome.

When I get the bag I'll tell you how it worked.

HAve fun, thanks, Jorge

Wow!

That's a nice bag for the $$$

I got the jansport duffel, it's really big, the material is good and all, but $60 bucks

I'd recomend it lol but I feel all stupid for getting a 60bucks bag looking that 10 bucks one.

Anyways.... I fitted way more than what I expected:
3 pair of shoes, 1 boots, 1 flip flops
3 big jackets, 5 sweaters
2 jeans, 2 khakis, 2 sport pants (ski pants)
all the underwear and socks
3 shorts 2 swimming trunks
books and cds
1 towel
1 40lt backpack (for the trips in europe )

I'm like I'll try to get a picture later.

Thanks for the info... I really wish I had checked the page out before buying this one.

OMG!! I'm so stressed, haven't received my visa, and I got my plane ticket to leave in 10 days, and AAHHHH!!!! is there such a thing as a travel shrink??? I really need to scream at someone right now. :P

Take care, Jorge
