what size backpack??

Hello All,

Right well im completly unsure what size rucksack to get....would a 50 litre rucksack be too smal, or is like a 70 litre rucksack to excessive...help please??

depends what you need it for, mine is 90L but Im packing for year, and I wanted the extra space if I needed it, but if your planning on going for a couple of months go for something smaller like 70L. I would say 40 is a bit tiny I would use that for something like a week long camping trip myself but as they say diffrent strokes for diffrent folks, figure out how muhc you want too bring and how much your gonna take back with you (estimate) and how long your going, go from there

Will is right about the 40L pack being way to small. I carry a 75L pack that expands to a 90L pack. It is great to have extra room for the all the stuff you may buy to bring back. It is personal opinion though on the pack you buy. My new pack is a North Face Pivotal 75 and I love it. When you go to get your pack look at all these things to choose the size:

* How much money you have to spend
* How long you are going to be gone
* How much walking are you going to do
* How much stuff are you going to bring with you

Nice choice of pack mikie, I was thinking about a 75 myself, but I figured hell, Im gonna be gone for a year might as well be sure plus this way I can carry more stuff and have too send back less, I was also thinking some camping int he outback sorrta deal wich that would become Ideal for

Ok now you completely peaked my interest....When are you thinking of camping the out back???? I have always dreamed of laying under the stars in the out back then get back to climbing Ayers Rock during the day.

I miss the out back!!!!!!

They are all sooo different. A 75 from one company will look huge, and then small from someone else.

I am using a 65, and whilst its i supose a good size for now, if i only had been backpacking for 3mths, would have gone smaller.

I'm hitching cross country. I plan on being gone for at least a year, what size pack should I take? I'm trying to take into consideration that I'll be riding in peoples cars, but I figure any size pack can just rest up against my knees.

75Leters or bigger anything smaller would be roughin it for a year, and It would be also a bit trickey too make a pack of decent size fit against your knees in a car ,you might do it but it would be uncomfotable for long periods of time
