help with pack

hey,
I am looking at backpacks for my trip this summer, and I am not sure exactly what I need. I figured several people here have dealed with there fair share of backpacks, and I was hoping I could take advantage of that knowledge.
...ok, heres the deal. I will be in Europe for a little more then a month. I want to travel light (I was thinking maybe 3 to 4 sets of clothes). I will be traveling alot, never spending more then 3 days in each destination. Also, I will be staying in hostels, random peoples houses, and possibly in a park or two (Pamplona) while we are there. I don't know how many pockets I will need, but more importantly what size total... like 4500 cubic inches... 3500 cubic inches... etc. Any info will help... thanx

I think the size of the pack has alot to do with how big you are, if you aren't a big person don't look at getting the biggest pack possible. You'll just kill yourself!

If you are buying packs on the net its a good idea to go to a store and check them out first, make sure you know what your getting yourself into. The pack you buy will pretty much become a part of you on your trip.
