Talking

hi,

I'm also planning on moving to Melbourne (from Boston, MA) in the near future.. hopefully as soon as I graduate in May.. but I'm not sure if that is going to be possible .. applying for a skilled visa right now (engineering) but I don't know if I'll hear back about it any time soon..

It seems like a lot of people who want to do the same thing are just entering on tourist visas and moving on from there.. but I don't know .. seems kind of hard to get sponsership from a company..lots of paperwork. I see tons of job postings for my field, but everyone wants someone who has permanent status..

Anyone have any other suggestions as to what to do? I can't wait to get back there -- I lived in Melb for two months for a school project.. I want to get back there as soon as possible!!

A few good websites for finding work are:

www.seek.com.au
www.careerone.com.au
www.jobsearch.gov.au

Right.. I've seen those sites,

but very few (if any) companys are offering sponsorship.. every time I make a call I hear it's only for Permanent Resident (with right to work).. it looks to be a similar situation here in the USA for non-nationals .. can't really work unless they say you can..

Which I am working on fixing (skilled labor visa entry) .. but this is very time consuming (6+ months, A$1300 registration, A$700 in independent skills assessments, and those take several weeks as well to process.......

It just seems like a lot of people talk about stepping foot in the country and getting a job on here.. but is this really possible?

Ugh I just wish my US citizenship was considered equivalent in AUS like UK or Irish citizenship is..
