The main issue with July will be higher ticket costs. You can find some that aren't completely outrageous about 4-5 months in advance. Another issue people have with Europe in the summer is that it's very touristy. By going in March, you still get somewhat decent weather (really depending though!), less crowds and cheaper costs. If you're going ot be there for a year anyway, all that matters is the cost of the plane to get there. June 1st to August 31st is the most expensive time to fly there. You can still get fairly decent prices up to mid June though.

Jamie I think he's planning to head Down Under (since that's the forum this is in).

July is winter there and ticket prices may actually be lower because of that. I don't think you'll have a problem with it-- just go!!

What are you planning to do? if you're working, the biggest issue would be lack of jobs, depending on where you are going. Backpackerboard.co.nz is good for this tho, and if you're staying at base, which i think is in Auckland, Wellington (my home ) and christchurch , they're really helpful. New Zealand is pretty cheap any time, so just come on down

Ahhahaha... I'm so dumb... and here I thought I was being efficient by just going to "new posts."
