tui,

nah this ain't a love letter no worries. though i could go on and on professing my love for you.... muhaha..nah Just wanted to ask you, I know you've been to nz and australia. how long were you there for? Just wondering because I'm going there next year. How much $$$ did you bring, how much did you spend. i can budget a trip for a few months no problem. But I "hopefully" plan on being there for a year, so I just don't know if I'll have enough mucha. I'll have about CAD$11, 000 that's for everything plane, insurance. transport etc...I also want to go to fiji and mabye thailand. Keep in mind that I will be getting a working holiday visa so I'll be working there as well, but i also want to travel and have as much fun as possible (ie. bungy jumping in nz, whitewater rafting, etc..) hmm so who thinks this is enough. who thinks i need to earn more?

And about airfare. Tui-did you fly there direct or get some sort of airpass. I was looking into the circle pacific airpass, but it will probably be around $3000 CAD. yikes a little over my budget...My dream would be vancouver-bangkok-perth-overland to sydney-auckland-nadi (fiji)-vancouver...but I'll accept no thailand if needs be.

ouch my head hurts now too much thinking . I just don't want to end up in aus. broke and panhandling..It's a loooooong way from home.

honestly I think you should be fine with that kind of budget!

I actually flew to NZ and ended up renting a house and staying for six months working as a commercial diver. Im not really sure about the airpasses and such because I found that New Zealand is a bargain barn for travel, especialy if you have us or cd dollars. If I remember right I was buying rt tickets to oz from Auckland for about 350 nzd and it wasnt much more for the islands. You'll love NZ, it still has to be one of my favorite countries, the people are the best, I could name countless nights where I drank for free just because I was a yank. The sites just keep coming, they arent really old like Europe, but loaded with beauty. Be sure to check out one tree hill in Auckland, and before you head south, go north to the tip around the "bay of plenty" for some breathtaking sea views. I guess I planned it that way because I like to have loads of freedom, and having prebooked would have demolished most of the freedom I experienced, so I bought a rt to Auckland and planned my travels from there.

Fiji, there are no words, beautiful place, but very small, so if ya plan to just relax on the beach you could burn some time on the cheap, enjoying drinks and sun. But if your a mover and fast paced you'll be ready to leave 2 or 3 days after you arrive. The airport is fascinating, two story building made of wood with floors made of dirt it immediatly introduces you to the rich culture you are about to indulge in.

Australia is fairly self explanitory, rugby, beer, and nightlife. :D

hey yo peeps, I AM working down there.I'm getting a working holiday visa thingy. Besides the exchange rate down under favours the canadian dollar. So i'll prob be going there with 9K canadian. ANd then I'll be working there for a few months as well. besides I could always pick up the odd fruit picking job if i run short, After thinking about it , and talking to my australian friend I think I'll be fine. Worse that could happen is that I have to shorten my trip by a few months.
