big johns is great!! they're pasta/salad dishes are HUGE.. the pizzas are great.. (if you get the garlic pizza.. make sure you have STRONG breath mints for afterwards!! we stunk out the car after eating that!!!) good value for money... sharing a plate with a friend is an idea!
other great places is Newtown (near the city) - they have a huge range of food... african, spanish, greek... and also nice little cafes - i recommend Cafe C's on King Street (the main street)!!
If you can get to Sydney in November, there is also the Newtown festival which has great market stalls, bands and food!
And if you have a hankerin for some ice cream at about 2am in the morning, there is a 24 hour ice cream place (and internet cafe as well i think) on the corner of George Street & Goulbourn Street(Sydney)... its a New Zealand Natural ice cream store and its to die for (Chocolate Ecstacy is a must for ANY chocolate lover!)
:P
