Hey i'm travelling to flying into Malaysia on my way thru to Europe in a few weeks and meeting up with a friend in Thailand before I fly out.

Anyone know how to get from KL to Bangkok? Flying looks like it will be a little pricey - love to go via train... anyone had any experience on overnight trains in the region? Any alternate suggestions on how to get there?

Also love to know of any festivals over there during the first half of december. love to see a mhu thai boxing match! anyone know where to go?

Nightclubs? bars? any suggestions?

Also, are there any festivals related to the muslim festival, ramadam? i think it's on around that time??

There is a train line that runs up the west coast of Malaysia from KL. It seems you can catch that train from KL to Butterworth and then from there to Bangkok. Good luck!

I arrive to KL on 4nov on my way back to australia if youre keen for a beer!

i arrive in KL on 1st Dec. How long you going to be there for? What are you planning to do/see?

Do you rekon it would be easy enough to just book the train when i get there or should i organise something on this end? Any idea of cost?

Hey auzzi. I fly out on 30th Nov unfortunately. Im not sure about the fares for trains exactly, but my lonely planet says 19RM from KL to Butterworth and then 11RM Butterworth to the Thai border. Thats 3rd class, triple price for 1st class. Divide by 2.8 for AUD price.

My rough itinerary is KL, a few islands - pangkor, penang, langkawi, KL, singapore and hopefully the jungle if weather good.
