hey guys..

after suffering from a serious travel withdrawal sickness... i finally got myself a trip to keep me sane...i just got my ticket today!! it's just for 5 days though.. i miss being "on the road" again so i'm pretty much excited abt it no matter how short it is....

well, this is mainly a scuba diving trip.. i'll be staying at Gili Trawangan to do some dives (hopefully, some sharks will keep me company! ) and hook up with a friend i met in melbourne...

i am just wondering if anyone has been to Lombok and the gilis (WWM??).. i would greatly appreciate any input!!

hey joanofarc, i've read your post on the Bali advice thread that you've travelled through indonesia years back..
i am stayin at the supposedly "party island" of the three gilis cause this is where the better dive spots are...
but i hope to explore a bit of lombok as well..the say that Lombok is like Bali in the 70's...
got some tips for me??

Sorry, I didn't make it over to Lombok when I was in Bali. I do say to keep an eye on the Balinese, though. They're very nice and friendly, but they have all kinds of scams to milk you out of your cash. Perhaps you being a Filipino will be less of a target, but I wouldn't relax too much.

I've heard the same thing about Lombok being like Bali was decades ago. Enjoy the dives...and as for sharks keeping you company...YIKES! That's my phobia...

no worries mike...

yeah, i've read abt the scams especially in the Bangsal Harbour (where you take a boat to get to the Gili islands)... being south-east asian, i sure hope i can past thru it unnoticed but got to be extra careful!!... can't underestimate those scam artists....

as for the sharks, it's actually the main reason why i am going there... to have a close encounter with these dreadful creatures..
