So anyways, on to my question... As it turns out, I dont have to be at my new job in japan for 12 days after I land in tokyo... so i can use that time for whatever I want... On a whim , i looked a flights to BKK from Tokyo and interestingly enough, its only about $400.... so Im thinking about going to Thailand for a week....
Specfic questions:
Hows the Weather there in mid Feb?
Ive read a few posts that say get out of BKK to see the rest of country if you can... any advice on where to go?
What i would really like is to get some chill beach front hut thing like they had in THE BEACH (before they went to the Island...yeah i know cliche) .... but being more of a Euro traveller, Im lost on the whole Thai thing... any advice?

Koh Samet is roughly 3 hours away from Bangkok (you can get a minibus there for next to nothing) and is absolutely idyllic. Get the beach hut, beautiful sea, all the bars and restaurants literally on the beach amazing.
We stayed on Tawn Tawan in a nice little beach hut, then walked over to "Malibu" beach for the bars restaurants etc. great bat called Baywatch bar ran by two dutch chaps called Robert and Robbie, who will give you the low down and are great company.
The actual island is a nature park so you have to pay to get on but once you're on it is great.
If you want anymore info let me know!
