I'm going to Thailand for 2 weeks and I am looking into the option of not purchasing a backpack for medical reasons.

I was wondering if you think its possible for someone to travel in Thailand with just a normal pull-along case? I will be spending a couple of nights in Bangkok and taking the overnight train south and spending a bit of time chilling on a few islands.. Can anyone tell me if I'll be at a definate dissadvantage if i had one of these?

I was thnking in terms of using public transport, ie trains, boats travel between ports stations and accommodation..

Ive posted this in this forum and not Travel Gear as I want the opinion of people who have experienced travel in Thailand and can tell me if this is possible..

Cheers!

The only disadvantage I can see is if you plan to walk around a lot with your suitcase, for example looking for a hostel with availability. The sidewalks, even in Bangkok, are very uneven, sometimes have big holes, are very cluttered with vendors, etc. Dragging your suitaces behind you may be an issue because of this. If you already have accomodation booked and just plan to take a taxi to/from your accomodation, I would say no problem. If you have to do it, though, no worries. You can manage, it just might be a pain at times. You may just become a bit more reliant on taking taxis or tuk-tuks, which isn't really a problem as they are generally cheap anyway. Good luck!!

well I guess you could get away with it, I mean it would kinda be like driving your car with a helmet on people would be like I can see why but a little unpracticl......yeah I would just take taxis everywhere then, or even better if your olnly going for 2 weeks take like a gym bag you know the ones with the shoulder strap, just be careful for driveby razor artists always have a grip on the thing. Its just cooler then a suitcase!
