shameless PR
So my best friend of 15 years and I have decided to take 2009 by the nuts and be healthy and lose some weight - as in actually do it (like, you know people say "oh I'm going to do it this year" and are elbow deep in a Chipotle binge week 3). I'm trying to lose about 20 and my best friend, a little more than that, and we're tried of the same old bullshit crash dieting, blah blah blah. We're like serial dieters. If I haven't tried it, she has.
I can remember day 3 of trying the Cabbage Soup diet at her house (as in, me, her sister, her mom, and stepdad) and me and her sister we so hungry we snuck out of the house while everyone was downstairs, took the little shih-tzu that barks so loudly with it (she got shoved in a bag so she would not bark, I swear to god) and we went to Wendy's.
Anyway, we do not want "more of the same" so we got the idea to blog together. She lives in another state than me, so we started a blog and we were going to kind of blog our progress, goals, yada yada yada. It's kind of a way to keep each other accountable, but anyway I thought I'd do some PR in case anyone was interested.

Good luck with your New Year's resolution. I think that making a specific goal and keeping track of it are definitely positive ways to get started.

hell yeah dude! I'm sick of the extra weight just hanging around and never really doing anything about it so we're trying something different this year.
if you need support, just let us know, we're going through the same shiz.

this is brilliant! i love this idea. i have been doing the same thing as you the last two years. after my last breakup i dropped to one of my lowest weights without hardly noticing and then i was diagnosed with hypothyroid. as i started to recover from the breakup and eat normally again, my weight started to climb til i hit my highest weight this time last year. (the thyroid thing didn't help either.) i was floored. so i started running and weight training and yogaing and hiking more and roller blading. i dropped about 10 pounds but was still above what i should be at. then i figured that it wasn't the workout part (cause i workout alot) it was the emotional eating part. i do all the same things you girls are talking about and it seems like an impossible battle to win. i eat heathly, but i tack on too many calories in a day due to eating when i need an emotional fix.
i appreciate so much that you two have posted this. it's so nice to read about something so real from an honest perspective. i wish you so much luck and i'll be keeping track for some good advice from you ladies!
