When in doubt, just do!
I was reading a textbook for a business class (I should be studying right now) and came across this. We've answered this question before, and now we have academic research to back it up! Should you go?
"Although we often regret actions in their immediate aftermath, over time regrets over actions decline markedly, whereas regrets over missed opportunities increase. For example, you finally decide to take that trip to Europe. You had an amazing time, but a few weeks after you get back, your credit card bill arrives- and it isn't pretty. Unfortunately, you have to work overtime and miss a few dinners out with friends to pay off the bills. A few months down the road, however, you decide to reminisce by looking through your photos from the trip, and sure enough you can't imagine never having gone. So, when in doubt, just do!" |
that may be my new facebook quote as an academic explanation for my behavior.
what is the title of this textbook |
Haha... nice. It's "Organizational Behavior, 12th Edition" (p176).

That's awesome. Thanks for posting

So Backpacking is an Organized Behavior? And Here I thought these people were just crazy.

Just read this. Those are my thoughts exactly. I'll take positive life altering experiences over debt anyday (kinda like going to college and facing your student loans later).
Thanks for posting this, bro:cheers: ! P.S. And, Rob, whe are you going to high-tail it over to Europe?! Make it happen! Now:unsure: ! |
I can't believe I haven't seen this before! That's an amazing quote. :) Mark Twain says it a lot more eloquently, but at least I can shove this at my more "logical" friends.

Thanks for that. I´ve finally decided to take that advice - much to my families horror.

Yuck, I had to read that textbook for one of my papers, musn't have read it very well though cas I didn't see that quote, but its awesome!
It's better to do something and regret it than not do it and regret it :D |
That's really nice --- I have this "act, don't think" policy myself!
