Back to the cubical...need some inspiration
Hi tpunks. I had a wonderful two months away from home traveling down under. Now I'm back! I started my new job today and lets just say it was depressing being back at the cubical, and trapped in an office all day.
Office life is just NOT normal!
Anyway, my plan is to work at home (LA) for the next year or two then travel around the world and end up in n.z. to do a holiday work visa (which i hope will turn into a sponsorship from a company). In the mean time, I can't help but feel like i'm not being enriched. Even working an office job in n.z. would be better b/c at least i'd be in a new environment and getting to know a new culture. BUT it's best that I stay put so I can save some $$ and pad the resume so I can easily find a job overseas.
SO. I NEED SOME INSPIRATION all you office workers! Tell me some fabulous things to get me through the next............uh.........year or two! haha.
for all you ppl waiting for the next trip...what gets you through the work day?

When I'm not "working" I spent my day reading other travellers travel diaries. I'm addicted and it pumps me up for my next trip. It's like an online novel! ...But the busy season is just starting so less time for that. I now have to deal with loser asshole 'tourists'..

I agree with CB & atchoum.....CB for the day to day mindless wake-up but planning my next trip for the excitement. I am starting to feel majorly bored with my current lifestyle now though, it's really sad...I'm dying for another trip ASAP. I'm going to Jamaica for a week or so in the fall & Africa for 6 months come january but it's been nearly 2 years since my last real trip and it's starting to get HARD. I'm going to need to do some hardcore planning soon though so that should really help pass the time. Planning any part of trip can get you really excited I find, even if it's so far away....

Yep, I plan, research, and fantasize about my next overseas jaunt. That and read TP posts and various outdoor magazines....and talk...to anyone...even myself...i think cube life is sending me slightly crazy.
I'm in the same boat as you SA, it's coming up 2 years since my last significant venture abroad. I really need to get outta here!! 6 months, i've just gotta wait out another 6 months

I know...it's 7 months for me...and while it seems like SO far I'm sure the time will fly. At least I have a set date...that's pretty darn exciting for me!
LFB, what I would give for a cube.....offices actually suck so much more because you're all alone, and while you can slack off more, when you're doing mind-numbing shit like I am it is B-R-U-T-A-L. Where's your next jaunt off to anyways?

Well, to combat the loneliness, the people here that are in offices do social rounds every couple of hours.
Well, ultimately I'll end up in the big ole US of A, more specifically San Francisco, for a few years to work, climb, and hopefully see a bit more of Mexico and Central America. But, if i have enough money saved up before I leave I'll stop by South East Asia for a few months for some backpacking, or maybe do some volunteer work somewhere. It all depends on how my savings goes and how much I can sell all my posessions for.
Either way, my current work contract is up in 6 months, so that marks the beginning of my new adventure.
