Waiheke is basically a blend of forest, beaches & vineyards, while Great Barrier has the kind of rugged, untouched beauty. Awesome places for a getaway - so relaxing. My buddy in New Zealand just invited me there. Says it the place to go, especially if one is looking for long walks - apparently is the best way to appreciate NZ.
